August in Loveland does something specific to your body. The heat is still real — high 80s in the afternoon, low humidity that makes you forget how much you're sweating. But there's a crispness in the mornings now. Fall races are on the calendar. You can feel the season shifting even if the temperature hasn't.
Most people respond by pushing a little harder. Which is great. But a lot of those same people are skipping the recovery step entirely. You finish a run on Devil's Backbone or a long bike ride on the Loveland trail, drink some water, maybe grab something to eat, and call it done. That works — until it doesn't. Until your legs are still heavy three days later and you're not sure why.
Why We Started Making This
A few weeks ago, a customer came into the shop after a morning trail run looking for something that would help her actually recover, not just rehydrate. We'd been experimenting with something ourselves: GoodLeaf's Nano CBD Hydration Drops.
What makes these different from a regular CBD tincture is the base. Instead of MCT oil, these use a pH 9.0 alkaline water formula — which means they mix cleanly into drinks, absorb faster than oil-based CBD, and don't leave a film on top of your water bottle. The formula also includes lion's mane mushroom, which adds a nice boost for post-workout mental clarity without any caffeine.
We started making a two-ingredient recovery drink with them, and now we reach for this recipe pretty much every time someone comes in asking what to do about the end-of-day training slump.
The Recipe
You need two things: a glass of cold coconut water and a dropper of GoodLeaf's Nano CBD Hydration Drops – 1200mg ($80). That's it.
Coconut water gives you natural electrolytes — potassium, magnesium, sodium — without the artificial dyes and added sugar in most sports drinks. The nano drops add fast-absorbing CBD and lion's mane in a water-compatible formula that stirs in within seconds. No oil layer, no separation, no grassy aftertaste.
Drink it within 30 minutes of finishing your workout while your muscles are still warm. If you want to stretch it into more of an afternoon refresher, add a squeeze of fresh lime and a few ice cubes. The unflavored drops don't compete with citrus — they just disappear into it.
If the Soreness Sticks Around
If you're getting into a real end-of-summer training push — hiking, cycling, running, finally committing to that strength class — the recovery drink is a solid starting point. But for spots that are specifically sore, we usually suggest pairing it with something topical.
The CBDfx Muscle & Joint Creams ($35) are what we keep reaching for at the shop. They come in a cooling formula and a heating + cooling formula, both with broad-spectrum CBD. Apply directly to whatever's sore after you clean up and let them work while you're making dinner.
Not a complicated routine. Two touchpoints — one you drink, one you apply — and your body gets what it needs to show up again tomorrow.
Stop By and Try Before You Buy
