Colorado Wellness in Spring 2026: Air Quality, Allergy Season, and Community Health Events
Spring Is Here — But So Are a Few Challenges
We love this time of year in Colorado. The days are getting longer, the trails are opening up, and everyone's ready to get back outside. But 2026 is throwing us a couple of curveballs that are worth talking about.
Wildfire Smoke Already Making an Appearance
You may have noticed the hazy skies lately. Wildfire smoke from Nebraska crossed state lines a few weeks ago, and the 24 Fire down in Fremont County has been sending haze toward Pueblo and El Paso counties. The Colorado Department of Public Health issued air quality advisories for nearly 20 counties in eastern Colorado.
If you spend any time outside — walking, running, gardening, whatever it is — it's worth checking conditions before you head out. The AirNow Fire and Smoke Map makes it easy. Experts are already saying this could be a long fire season, so getting in the habit now is a good move.
Allergy Season Came in Hot
That unusually warm winter we had pushed allergy season forward by several weeks. Tree pollen along the Front Range is already elevated, and grass pollen is expected to follow close behind.
We've been hearing it from customers all month. The sneezing, the congestion, the itchy eyes — it's hitting earlier and harder than usual. If you deal with seasonal allergies, the best advice we've come across is to start managing them before the symptoms really ramp up. Getting ahead of it makes a big difference.
On days when pollen counts are high and there's also smoke in the air, that combination can be rough on your respiratory system. Those are good days to keep things indoors if you can.
Wellness Events Worth Checking Out
Despite all of that, there's a lot of great stuff happening around the state this month.
The Body Mind Spirit Expo runs April 10 through 12 at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. It's a mix of workshops on meditation, movement, and integrative health. The Senior Lifestyle Expo is on April 18 at Peak Pickleball, with health screenings and fitness demos. Over in Delta County, the Step Into Wellness Walk on April 9 is a community-focused morning of movement put together with local public health officials. And if you're in Denver, Civic Center MOVES has free morning fitness classes going twice a week.
If you check any of these out, we'd love to hear about it.
Enjoy the Season. Just Be Smart About It.
Living in Colorado means we get to be active and outdoors most of the year. That's one of the best things about being here. But spring in 2026 is asking us to pay a little more attention — check the air before you head out, get ahead of your allergies, and give yourself time to recover after big days outside.
If you ever want to chat about what might fit into your wellness routine, stop by the shop. That's what we're here for.
