National Public Health Week Arrives in Colorado
Starting April 6, communities across Colorado are observing National Public Health Week under the theme "Ready. Set. Action." From county health departments hosting free screenings to local organizations promoting mental health resources, this week is designed to make wellness accessible and actionable for everyone.
Chaffee County Public Health is among several Colorado agencies highlighting the importance of preventive care and community-driven health initiatives. The message is clear: small steps, taken consistently, lead to meaningful change.
Spring Race Season Hits the Front Range
Northern Colorado's running calendar is filling up fast. The Horsetooth Half Marathon returns to Fort Collins on April 19, a perennial favorite that winds through some of the most scenic terrain on the Front Range. Later in the month, the Loveland Classic Earth Day 10K & 5K and the NOCO Half Marathon & 10K both take place on April 25.
Whether you're a seasoned runner or just getting started, these events are a great way to connect with the local wellness community. Recovery and hydration will be key as training ramps up in the coming weeks.
Air Quality and Early Allergy Season
As of this weekend, Colorado's Front Range air quality is moderate with an AQI of 63 — no advisories are in effect from Douglas County through Larimer and Weld counties. That said, a record warm and dry winter has pushed allergy season earlier than usual. Tree pollen is already climbing along the Front Range, and sensitive individuals may want to monitor daily pollen counts before spending extended time outdoors.
Staying hydrated, supporting your body with quality rest, and maintaining a consistent wellness routine can all help you navigate the seasonal shift more comfortably.
