There is a stretch in mid-to-late April when Loveland feels like it is holding its breath. The trees are not quite leafed out, the rivers are starting to run, and the calendar is suddenly stuffed with events worth driving across town for. This weekend and next are exactly that kind of stretch — and we wanted to share what we are looking forward to from behind the counter.

The Governor's Art Show Opens at the Museum

If you have never been, the Governor's Art Show & Sale is one of the best reasons to walk into the Loveland Museum all year. Opening Night Gala is April 24, and the show itself runs through June 6. We always end up taking customers' tips on which pieces to spend extra time with. Make a slow afternoon of it. Walk Lincoln Avenue, grab a coffee, and let your shoulders drop a little.

If you are someone whose hands or knees flare up after a long museum walk, our Secret Wellness ReLeaf CBD Lip Balm ($6) tucks into a pocket and helps with the dry Colorado air, and a quick swipe of the Secret Wellness Roll-On ($55) on the back of the neck or shoulders can make those last few galleries a lot more enjoyable.

Loveland Ski Area's Final Weekend

It is hard to believe, but Loveland Ski Area is closing for the season on Sunday, April 26. They have live music every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between now and then, the 25th Annual Corn Harvest Party on April 25 (it benefits the Colorado Avalanche Information Center), and Mark Morris playing closing day. If you ski, you know — corn season is its own little reward. Soft turns, sunshine, and short lift lines.

If you do make it up, your legs will let you know on Sunday night. The 3000mg Sports CBG-Dominant Muscle & Joint Cream ($50) from GoodLeaf is what we reach for after a hard day on the hill. It absorbs cleanly and works well on the spots that hold tension after a long descent. For folks who want something a little more all-purpose, the Award-Winning GoodLeaf 2300mg Pain Butter ($70) is a customer favorite — Colorado-crafted, almond honey base, and yes, it really did win awards.

Pickle Fest at Aleworks

And then there is Pickle Fest. For the Love of Pickles is taking over Loveland Aleworks on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 8 p.m. We will say no more — just go. It is one of those purely fun, very-Loveland kinds of events that reminds you why we love this town.

The Quieter Side of Spring

One thing worth holding in mind this week. The Colorado Sun ran a piece reporting that mental health professionals in Colorado mountain towns are seeing demand pace well above last year, with the offseason bringing financial stress and loneliness for a lot of people. Wellness is not just supplements and stretching — it is checking in on the people in your life. If you are heading into the mountains this weekend or know someone who lives in a ski town, an unhurried phone call counts more than you might think.

Whatever your weekend looks like, we hope it includes a slow morning, some sunshine, and a little time to actually enjoy this stretch of the year. Stop in if you are downtown — we love hearing what people are getting up to.
