The Best Recipes Are the Ones You’ll Repeat

We talk to a lot of customers about routines. Morning tinctures, bedtime gummies, post-workout topicals. And those are all great. But every once in a while, someone asks us something different: can I just put CBD in my food?

Yes. Absolutely yes. And honestly, it might be the easiest way to work it into your day without thinking about it.

These energy bites are our go-to recommendation. They take about five minutes, they don’t need an oven, and they’re the kind of thing you can make on a Sunday night and grab all week — whether you’re heading to Devil’s Backbone, packing a lunch for work, or just need something at 3 PM that isn’t another cup of coffee.

What You’ll Need

One cup of old-fashioned rolled oats. Half a cup of peanut butter (or almond butter if that’s your thing). A third cup of Honey Jar by GoodLeaf Hemp Therapeutics ($45.00) — that’s the CBD, CBG, and CBN-infused organic clover honey we carry in peach and strawberry. A quarter cup of mini chocolate chips. Two tablespoons of ground flaxseed. A pinch of sea salt. And a splash of vanilla if you’ve got it.

If you want to keep things simple and single-serve instead, swap the honey jar for a couple of CBD + CBG + CBN Honey Stix by GoodLeaf ($2.00 each). One stix per two or three bites gives you a nice, measured dose without any guesswork.

How to Make Them

Stir everything together in a bowl. That’s genuinely the whole process. If the mixture feels too dry, add a little more honey. Too sticky, add a few more oats. Roll them into balls about the size of a golf ball and set them on a sheet of parchment paper.

Pop the tray in the fridge for twenty minutes so they firm up. After that, they’ll hold their shape in a bag, a container, or your jacket pocket on the trail.

The batch makes about twelve to fifteen bites depending on how generous you are with the scooping. They keep in the fridge for a week, easy.

Why This Works for Colorado Living

Spring in Loveland means you’re finally getting outside again. The trails are opening up, the mornings are warming, and your body is remembering what it feels like to actually move after a long winter. These bites are a good pre-hike grab or a solid post-walk snack — the oats and peanut butter give you real energy, and the CBD honey adds that gentle wellness layer without any extra steps.

A few customers have told us they keep a batch in the fridge and toss one in with a Rocky Mountain Soda ($2.50) for an easy afternoon pick-me-up. Not a bad combo.

Make It Your Own

The base recipe is forgiving. Swap chocolate chips for dried cranberries. Add shredded coconut. Throw in some chia seeds. Use sunflower seed butter if you’re nut-free. The only thing to keep consistent is the honey — that’s where the good stuff is.

If you’ve never cooked with CBD honey before, stop by the shop and we’ll walk you through it. We keep both the jar and the individual stix in stock, and most people end up grabbing a few stix first just to try it out.

Happy Monday. Go make something good.
